HYUNDAI Merchant Marine Co (HMM) to launch S Korea-Europe train service via Chin

HYUNDAI Merchant Marine Co (HMM) announced it will soon launch a block train service to Europe via the Trans China Railway  (TCR) from South Korea. The unit train service to Europe by way of China will be the first of its kind, although South Korean firms have already launched a similar service to Europe on the Trans-Siberian Railway (TSR) and the TransMongolian Railway (TMR). A block train service is a train where all the cars carry the same commodity and are shipped to a single destination from a single origin, according to South Korea's news agency, Yonhap. HMM said it has been collecting cargoTCR since early this month. It will bring the cargo to Qingdao and Rizhao in China's Shandong Province, from where it will be sent to Chengdu in the southwestern province of Sichuan. The cargo will then go to Dostyk in Kazakhstan and on to Poland on the TSR. Hyundai Merchant Marine said Samsung SDS, LG Electronics and Hyundai Glovis and several other companies have expressed interest in the use of the block train for the shipping of televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, auto parts and other high value-added products. Industry sources said the weekly volume of goods to Europe from South Korea through inland transportation amounts to 25 FEU containers. The service using the TCR reduces the travel time to Poland to 18 to 23 days from the 35 to 40 days needed for sea transportation. The service to Europe using the TSR takes at least 30 days. It costs up to US$7,000 for the delivery of goods to Europe through the TCR per TEU compared with up to $4,000 on the sea route. "We are trying to make efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the TCR block train in terms of prices," an official of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said. "We've made some progress in the subsidy negotiations with Chinese provincial governments. We need to reduce the 99 per cent dependency on the sea route for the delivery of exports."source : Schednet

Hyundai Merchant Marine Co. ( HMM)uit Zuid- Korea kondigt aan dat het een bloktreindienst naar Europa zal starten via de Trans China Railway ( TCR).
De service van de trein naar Europa zal doorheen heel China rijden , en is de eerste in zijn soort , hoewel er al verschillende Zuid-Koreaanse bedrijven met een soortgelijke dienst bezig zijn , maar dan over de Trans – Siberische spoorlijn ( TSR) en de Trans Mongoolse spoorlijn ( TMR) naar Europa.
Een bloktreindienst is een trein waarvan alle auto's worden verzonden naar één bestemming uit een gemeenschappelijke oorsprong ( in dit geval dus Hyundai).
HMM is nu , sinds begin deze maand , alle cargo aan het verzamelen om over de TCR route te kunnen rijden. Het brengt de ladingen nu naar Qingdao en Rizhao in de noordoostelijke provincie Shandong in China , vanwaar het verder verzonden zal worden naar Chengdu in de zuidwestelijke provincie Sichuan. De lading gaat vervolgens naar Dostyq in Kazachstan en verder naar Polen op de TSR-spoorlijn.
Hyundai Merchant Marine ( HMM ) zegt dat Samsung SDS, LG Electronics en Hyundai Glovis en diverse andere bedrijven interesse tonen om eveneens bloktreinen te gaan gebruiken voor het verschepen van televisies, koelkasten, air conditioners, auto-onderdelen en andere hoogwaardige produkten.
De service met behulp van de TCR vermindert de reistijd naar Polen tussen de 18 tot 23 dagen van de 35 tot 40 dagen nodig voor zeevervoer. De service naar Europa over de TSR-spoorlijn duurt minstens 30 dagen. Het kost tot US$ 7.000 voor de levering van goederen naar Europa via de TCR spoorlijn , in vergelijking met max. 4000 dollar via de zeeroute.
We proberen ons in te spannen om het concurrentievermogen van de TCR blok trein in termen van prijzen,"zei een ambtenaar van het ministerie van Land, infrastructuur en vervoer. "We hebben enige vooruitgang geboekt in de onderhandelingen van de subsidie met Chinese provinciale overheden.
